1 dead, 1 critically injured in Edison, New Jersey shooting
Edison: One man was killed and another man is in critical condition after they were shot outside an Edison restaurant shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The shooting took place outside the Akbar Restaurant located on Cortland Street, where a Reggae event was being held, officials said.
Police said a 31-year-old Newark man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released the victim’s name.

A 40-year-old man from Newark was also shot and taken to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
A promotional pamphlet posted by RLS described the event as the “official birthday bash for Rich, the G.O.A.T. of NJ nightlife.” Carey described it as a “reggae event.”
Mayor Thomas Lankey called the shootings “tragic and upsetting.”

“I am confident that Edison’s well-trained Police Department, working in conjunction with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, can and will bring to justice the person or persons responsible,” he said.
