By Roy Daniels, Copy Edited By Adan Rizvi, TIO: While the electronic media is busy milking the story of the imminent release from prison of the Talwars, there are three other pronouncements from the higher courts that are far more important but are being ignored. Remember Kanhaiya, and how we said he and other students were being treated like criminals by Modi Sarkar and JNU? Remember all the noise about ‘Tolerance’, when the most intolerant people in India protested that we were being intolerant about their intolerance? (It’s a little complicated, and if you do not have an agile mind you will not get it. One of those jokers has actually taken over FTII.)

Well on that matter we now have justice. The Delhi high court has set aside the disciplinary action taken against former JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar and 14 other students in connection with an event organized there in February last year. Justice V Kameswar Rao said, JNU, and by association Modi Sarkar and people like Ms. Irani, did not follow “the principles of natural justice”.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court, today, told the government that it needs to be more humane on the Rohingya refugees. They pointed out to Modi Sarkar that their human rights cannot be ignored. As you probably remember the Supremes had earlier told Modi Sarkar that it has the authority to review the move to deport Rohingya Muslim refugees, rejecting the NDA government’s stand that the judiciary must not interfere with an executive decision.

And the third? The Supreme Court said it will not modify its order banning firecrackers in Delhi. They also pointed out to hysterical voices like Chetan Bhagat, Arnab Goswami, and the BJP-RSS, that it was ‘anguished’ by the communal angle to the firecracker ban. You will remember that a Delhi BJP spokesperson, Praveen Shankar Kapoor, said in a statement: “The world over in hundreds of countries people burn crackers on Christmas and the New Year but the way (Green Tribunal) has got Diwali firecrackers banned in the name of pollution is disgusting.”
