PM Modi in Indore: ‘Dawoodi Bohra community playing big role in ‘vikas’ mission’
PM Modi’s meeting with Syedna Saifuddin took place at the Saifi Nagar mosque in Indore.
Indore, September 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met religious head of Dawoodi Bohra community, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, at a mosque in Indore on Friday. PM Modi also addressed thousands of people of the community.
Thousands of community members have arrived in Indore from various parts of the world to hear their religious head’s sermons.
Dawoodi Bohras are a sect within Shia Islam.
The PM’s meeting with Syedna Saifuddin took place at the Saifi Nagar mosque, where the Dawoodi Bohra community head is holding a nine-day religious discourse.
PM Modi, while speaking at the Saifee Mosque, said the Bohra community always followed the Prophet’s guidance and that it was an honour for him to address the community. “I feel like a member of the Bohra community,” the PM said. He said everyone should unite to work for the greater good of the country. “Unity makes us unique from other nations,” he said.

He said he was honoured to have been given an opportunity to attend Ashara Mubaraka – the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain — organized by the Dawoodi Bohra community.

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra community responded by saying: “May you get success in all that you do for the country.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan were also present during Modi’s visit.
The prime minister’s visit assumes significance as Assembly polls are due in the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh by year-end. Around 2.5 lakh Dawoodi Bohras are estimated to live in the state, mainly in Indore, Ujjain and Burhanpur districts.
