Ayesha Krishnan Hamilton, Mother, Wife & a Pro. A Fresh Face in New Jersey & A Genuine Advocate For Her Constituents

This year, she has put West Windsor on the political map and has shined a spotlight on South Asian Americans in Central Jersey politics; she finds herself in good company with Sen.-elect Vin Gopal, Asm. Raj Mukherji and Freeholder Shanti Narra.

Councilwoman Hamilton brings her skills as an attorney to her work on the Township Council.  She is transparent in her analysis and always explains her votes.  She engages her constituents by sending out a regular newsletter providing updates on Township issues.

This style of her of reaching out to her constituent has created numerous fans. One doesn’t have to tell this writer during his search for answers how gloriously addictive she is to watch when she is in motion balancing her family life with a focus only on one agenda, how to make the lives of her constituent more comfortable, how to get them more Jobs and skills.  She is friendly, personable and pleasant & insists on being called Ayesha rather than by any titles.

Ayesha is a frequent advocate for the South Asian American community and is one of the founding members of, ISAAW (Inspiring South Asian American Women).  She sits on the advisory board and has also been a regular lecturer for the New Jersey Leadership Program, an organization that encourages South Asian high school students to pursue politics and policy careers.  She also served as MC for a large rally for Gov.elect Murphy held at the Royal Albert Palace in Edison this year, speaking passionately about the importance of South Asian Americans having a seat at the table, especially in New Jersey.

Councilwoman Hamilton serves on the Gov.-elect’s Labor and Workforce Development Transition Team and is a vocal advocate for the rights of women and minorities in the workplace.  She speaks passionately about the role that education should play in developing career pathways to serve NJ’s workers and businesses.  She also serves on the Mercer County Workforce Development Board and wants to shape New Jersey’s policies to focus on getting residents educated and back to work with the skills they need.

Councilwoman Hamilton is very involved with the New Jersey State Bar Association and currently serves as the Chair of the Solo/Small Firm Section; she also serves on the NJSBA legislative committee and has shown a keen interest in shaping policy.

“I believe that the partnership between educational institutions, private businesses and government will improve the skills of our workforce, bring our long term unemployed back to work based on their experiences, education and racial inequality, just like first black Lt.
