India slams UN report on Kashmir, calls it ‘selective compilation of largely unverified information’
India on Thursday strongly reacted to UN report on alleged human rights violation in Jammu and Kashmir. Dubbing the report as ‘fallacious, tendentious and motivated’, India said it violated India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This stern statement from Ministry of External Affairs came hours after the UN report which came down hard on both India and Pakistan.
Response by @MEAIndia :
"India rejects the report. It is fallacious, tendentious and motivated. We question the intent in bringing out such a report.
It is a selective compilation of largely unverified information. It is overtly prejudiced and seeks to build a false narrative.” pic.twitter.com/r37KpW1FAU— India at UN, Geneva (@IndiaUNGeneva) June 14, 2018
India reacted sharply to the report, saying the government is “deeply concerned that individual prejudices are being allowed to undermine the credibility of a UN institution”.
“The report violates India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan is in illegal and forcible occupation of a part of the Indian state through aggression,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a strongly-worded statement.

BJP National Secretary Ram Madhav said, “It seems that the report has been prepared by some juveniles. They really don’t know the intricacies of the problem. It’s very fashionable to talk about human rights. We reject this report.” Reaction also came from Union Minister Jitendra Singh, who said, “The issue ends with 1994 resolution, which was endorsed by all political parties. If there is any outstanding issue between India and Pakistan as far as J&K is concerned, it is only that how we have to retrieve the PoK.”

The Opposition Congress came out in support of the government: “We reject the UN human rights report as a prejudiced attempt by vested interests to hurt India’s sovereignty and national interests. The Congress supports the government’s stand in dismissing the report. UNHRC has prepared the report remotely with zero understanding of the situation in J&K. How does the report justify terrorism by self-styled militants of JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen? Should the UN overlook the state-sponsored terrorism being exported to Indian soil by Pakistan?” Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala said.
Jammu & Kashmir is an integral & inseparable part of India. We reject UN Human Rights Report as a prejudiced attempt by vested interests to hurt India's Sovereignity & National Interests.

This is for the first time the UNHRC has issued a report on the alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
