JHANSI, Oct., 28, 2018: A 30-year-old woman police constable become an internet sensation after a picture of her with six-month-old daughter at work went viral on social media platforms.

In the photo that went viral, Archana is seen working while her daughter baby Anika is sleeping on the reception desk.

Constable Archana Jayant, who had been posted in Jhansi Kotwali Police Station since 2016,  had no option but to get her daughter to work as her husband works with a leading car manufacturer in Gurgaon and her elder daughter, 10-year-old Kanak lives with her grandparents in Kanpur, reported Times of India.

“Meet ‘MotherCop’ Archana posted at Kotwali, Jhansi for whom the duties of motherhood and the department go side by side! She deserves a salute!” tweeted Rahul Srivastav, a senior police officer in Uttar Pradesh.

“She is sincere and dedicated to work,” Kotwali SO, Umesh Chandra Tripathi, told the newspaper. DIG, Jhansi range, Shubhash Singh Bhagel has even given her a cash reward of Rs 1,000.

“My seniors have been very helpful. Often, my daughter begins wailing while I am at work. My colleagues then take care of her,” said Archana.

“I wish I could get a transfer to Agra so that I could be with my family and raise both my daughters along with carrying on my work,” said Archana.

Thousands of users on social media showered praises and asked the police department to provide day-care facilities to working mothers.

Describing the police officer Archana Jayant as a “quintessential 21st Century woman”, Om Prakash Singh, Director General of Police in Uttar Pradesh said, “Had a conversation with Archana this morning and ordered her transfer to Agra, closer home! The little one brightening Jhansi Police Station, has inspired us to explore crèche options at every police line.”
