Muslims may face renewed persecution during the third term of Modi India

This drama was witnessed from 2014-2019 when a wave of communal agenda was launched directed against the Muslims. In the second term of Modi rule 2019 -2014, there was no respite from the hate crimes against Muslims. If one goes by the tone and tenor of the two terms of the Modi rule, Muslims will certainly face hate crimes, bigotry, and the destruction of their life and property, in the third term in office by the Modi government.

This can be ascertained from the events that took place after the Ram Janambhumi Pratisthan ceremony on January 22, 2024.  The events taking place in Kashi and Muthura are in complete defiance of the Supreme Court’s order on the Places of Worship Act, 1991. It clearly says to freeze the status of religious places of worship as they existed on August 15, 1947, prohibits the conversion of any place of worship, and ensures the maintenance of their religious character.

However, in defiance of the Supreme Court’s order, Hindu prayer is being performed in the basement of the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi. At the same time, the archeological survey of India is asked to trace the Krishna Janambhumi at the site of Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque. The aim is to construct the Krishna Janmasthan Temple Complex on the lines of the Ram Mandir Complex in Ayodhya.

After the Ram Janambhumi Pratisthan ceremony on January 22, a six-century-old Akhunji Mosque in Delhi was demolished by the municipal corporation in complete defiance of its historical and architectural importance.

Similarly in Haldwani, Uttrakhand a madrasa and a mosque were demolished in an alleged anti-encroachment drive that saw six people being killed in alleged protest of the anti-Muslim drive. The blatant part is that the Muslim victims were made instigators of the crime and the acts of demolition of their place of worship and education were done in the name of illegal settlement.

In sum, all this suggests that the appetite of Hindutva zealots has not yet been satisfied in the two terms of the Modi rule. The anti-Muslim drive is going to continue during the third term as well.  The Hindutva forces will be on the prowl to identify more mosques, madarsa, and graveyards and link them with the Hindu religion, to create controversy to snatch them away from the Muslims.

What is seen in the urge to establish a Hindu Rashtra, all the other issues facing the country have taken a backseat in India. The madness to establish a majoritarianism state seems to be the core agenda of the Modi rule in the third term in office. And this can be accomplished by finishing off the Muslims of India, politically, economically, and socially.

The dehumanized nature of the Modi rule in the last ten years has witnessed the lynching of Muslims, Hindu mobs entering the mosques and flying saffron flags at its minarets, raising anti-Muslim slogans, and many such things that are anti-human.

The Hindutva force’s desire to finish off ‘Muslim’ does not stop here alone. It is seen in the expunging of the portions of medieval Indian history dominated by Muslim rule.  This part of history is rewritten with the angle that the Muslim rulers had snuffed the growth of Hindu civilization in India. As a result, the current generation of Muslims should be held accountable and hence persecuted.

There are further intellectual tempering done in the textbooks of schools and colleges where chapters on ‘Democracy and Diversity’, ‘Social Inequality and exclusion’, ‘Human development’ and ‘Popular struggles and movements’, ‘Challenges to Democracy’, ‘Gender, religion, and Caste’ are being expunged.

Then efforts are being made to look at social and economic realities not from the objective social realities but from the Hindu vs Muslim religious angle. The new approach has a ‘Hindu-Muslim’ reductionist angle where Hindus despite being in the majority are said to be under the threat of the Muslims. In other words, demonizing the Muslims and accusing them of all the ills in the country will dominate the political discourse in India in the third term of Modi’s rule.

The conspiracy of silence by the rulers of the country is explicitly evident

because even though they all know that the current anti-Muslim discourse runs opposite to the human values and the constitution of India, they are endorsing this madness, or else will be branded as traitors of India.

Right now within the ruling dispensation, no one is talking about rising unemployment, price rise, social inequality, human rights abuses, failing human development, failing social justice, etc.  All seem to be endorsing Hindutva madness against the Muslims to give the impression that finishing off the Muslims is the core problem of India.

The Hindu rulers of Hindustan are oblivious to the fact that in the effort to finish the Muslims in India, they are partners in the crime to make India go down on all the parameters of human development in the world. Just look where India stands in the Hunger Index, Human Development Index, Press Freedom Index, Environmental Index, Human Rights Index, and Social justice index with the rest of the countries in the world.

 The rulers of the day are busy manipulating the data of the failing indexes blaming the foreign data surveys as biased against India. However, the people on the ground are aware of the hard realities and can vouch for how little improvement has been made to improve their social and economic conditions. In contrast, the government is fudging the data to show they have brought out a large number of people out of the low poverty index.

To cut the story short, it can be said that apart from finishing the Muslims, many other things integral to the development of the country are also being finished.  In the effort to build a Hindu state, the parliamentary structure is being made subservient to the ruling party. The ‘opposition-free’ India and ‘dissent-free’ India is the new slogan of the ruling party. The opposition is pressurized to merge their identity with the ruling party and say Yes Prime Minister.

If we look back India made a forward movement through its anti-colonial struggles and gave a new direction to the country through the constitutional promises.  It was very easy for the framers of the constitution to make India ton a Hindu Rashtra in 1947. This was to toe the line of M A Jinnah who suggested India to be organized as a Hindu and Muslim nation.

However, after 75 years after Independence, a realization has dawned upon the Hindu religious forces to make India a Hindu state. They want to throw away the secular cloak that India wore in 1947 to keep the Hindu religious forces at bay. Now by making India a Hindu state, the Hindutva forces are endorsing the views of MA Jinnah that India is a Hindu country.  It should be declared as a Hindu Rasthria and should be separated from the Muslims, a scene which we are witnessing in contemporary India.

With every push towards making India and Hindu state, the ghost of Jinnah is dancing in India, look what I said in 1947 was right, the BJP is doing the same reaping the electoral benefits from my prophecy that India is a Hindu state.

So in the third term of Modi’s rule, the focus will remain on uniting the Hindu forces by eliminating the Muslims, telling them the primary concern that surmounts all other concerns is the persecution of the Muslims. Even if that means hoodwinking the countrymen on the shoddy developmental report card on human progress in India.  The ace in the sleeves of Modi’s rule remains the persecution of Muslims during its third term in office.
