Sen. Vin Gopal Appointed Chairman of Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee
NEW JERSEY, DEC 29: Freshman Senator Vin Gopal has been appointed to serve as Chairman of the Senate Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
In a statement issued post the appointment the young and charismatic Senator had this to say, “I am honored to take on this new, important role as Chair of the Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee,” said Gopal. “I look forward to continuing my support of the service members in New Jersey who have fought for our state and our country. These men and women deserve the utmost care from our communities and I plan on facilitating that as best I can.”

Senator Gopal, acknowledging the honor, in a statement to the media, added, “As a State Senator, I have striven to support veterans both in my district and throughout the state. I look forward to continuing my support of the service members in New Jersey who have fought for our state and our country. These men and women deserve the utmost care from our communities and I plan on facilitating that as best I can. I am humbled to be entrusted with leading this vital committee. So far, my track record underscores my commitment to our veterans and I look forward to the opportunity to repay our debt of gratitude to these brave men and women through my work on this committee.”
This is Senator Gopal’s second Chairmanship appointment in his first term in the State Senate.
Among the legislation Senator Gopal has introduced in support of veterans, is a bill to extend the $250 property tax deduction. He has also called for total property tax exemption that is currently granted to honorably discharged veterans as well as their surviving spouses on the homes they own, to residential units in continuing care retirement communities.
Underscoring the importance of the sacrifices made by the veterans, Sen. Vin Gopal said, “With all of the sacrifices our veterans have made in the name of their country, they should not have to worry about how they will afford living arrangements. This bill provides our veterans with a much needed financial break and allows them to live in communities that best suit their needs.”
