Sen. Vin Gopal Appointed to Two Legislative Leadership Positions

New Jersey’s first South -Asian American Senator Vin Gopal (D-11) was appointed to serve as Senate Majority Conference Leader, and as Chairman of the bipartisan Legislative Manufacturing Caucus by Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) on Wednesday, April 4th in Trenton, N.J.
“I am grateful to Senate President Steve Sweeney for entrusting me to serve in these positions,” said Sen. Gopal. “I am very excited to take on these new roles within the Senate and the responsibilities that accompany them. I look forward to working with my talented colleagues to serve the people of New Jersey and improve this great state.”
Sen. Gopal will be adding these two new roles to his current repertoire of legislative duties. He will continue to serve as the Vice Chair of the Transportation Committee, and serve on the Economic Growth Committee and Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee.
Sen. Sweeney also appointed Senator Patrick Diegnan (D-18) as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, and Senator Troy Singleton (D-7) as Chairman of the Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.
“Congratulations to my fellow appointees Senator Patrick Diegnan and Senator Troy Singleton,” said Sen. Gopal. “These men are extremely talented and capable legislators. Their appointments are very well earned.”
Sen. Gopal will be replacing outgoing Senator Robert Gordon (D-38), who will be moving to a position at the Board of Public Utilities.
“I want to wish outgoing Senator Bob Gordon all the best in his new position at the BPU,” said Sen. Gopal. “I look forward to working with all my colleagues to move New Jersey forward.”
