By Qayam Masumi, Edited By Adam Rizvi, The India Observer, TIO, NJ: The Mallakhamb Federation USA intends to dispatch its team to compete at the second Mallakhamb World Championship, which is the biggest gathering of its kind outside of the Olympics, from May 9th to May 12th, 2023, at the Phuentsholing Sports Association Sports Complex in Bhutan. The Mallakhamb Federation of USA (MFU) is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since 2014, with the aim of promoting Mallakhamb as a sport in the United States. The organization is dedicated to creating a supportive culture that empowers its athletes and prioritizes their safety and well-being.

Originally used as a pole for practicing wrestling skills in the game of KUSTI, Mallakhamb has now evolved into a sport with its own unique identity. Mallakhamb requires a high level of concentration, speed, and flexibility, and it is the only game that is played against gravity.
The Mallakhamb Federation USA has achieved several milestones, including being the first national-level federation outside of India to promote Bharatiya Khel, as verified through international business networks. They have also authored the Mallakhamb Book of Knowledge, which is the first book on Mallakhamb skills available on Amazon, with all proceeds going to the Mallakhamb Federation.

Additionally, they have translated the Book of Knowledge into a Mallakhamb curriculum and created a structure for multiple centers all over the USA. The Mallakhamb Federation USA has demonstrated Mallakhamb in several landmark locations, such as the Governors Island/Statue of Liberty, Lincoln Center of Performing Arts, Boston Children Museum, Queens Children Museum, and Times Square.
Moreover, the Mallakhamb Federation USA has started the School of Indian Games/Recreational Games in New Jersey, aimed at teaching indigenous games like Mallakhamb, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, and Kalaripayattu. They coached Team USA for the first Mallakhamb World Championship and were featured in Maan Ki Baat by the Prime Minister of India, Hon Shri Narendra Modi Ji. Additionally, they demonstrated Mallakhamb in the United Nations for the first time, and the State Senate of the State of New Jersey awarded a citation to the Mallakhamb Federation USA.

Anant Chaudhari appealed for support to Mallakhamb and its athletes by saying, “We invite you to join us in supporting Mallakhamb and its sports persons.” He further added that every sports person deserves the chance to participate in sports, but not every family can afford the cost of stay, training, travel and sundry expenses of the players & their coaches. The athletes have eagerly awaited this day for several years, but it was delayed due to the pandemic. We do not want to miss this opportunity to represent Mallakhamb on the international stage and bring pride to India.

Additionally, we are actively seeking sponsors who can assist us in raising the necessary funds to meet our financial requirements for this event. Your contribution can help provide opportunities for athletes to engage in physical activity, develop their skills, and build self-confidence. By supporting our cause, we can ensure that no athlete is excluded from the benefits of sports. Your donation will have a direct impact on the lives of Mallakhamb athletes in our community, and we appreciate any contribution, no matter how big or small, stated Mr. Anant Chaudhari.
